Crossing the Line
Crossing The Line wasnt my kind of book, but it was good regardless. It follows Erik's story and the bad decisions he makes, digging himself in deeper and deeper, getting himself in with bad people who make him transport drugs. My favourite part of the book was the ending, because it was really good.

Kaya

The Door of No Return
This book takes a very dark turn as he gets captured for his brother accidentally killed the air to the lower part of the kingdom. His brother then suffers from the trial of losing his fingers and then gets killed. He then has multiple escapes that fail until they go on the boat...

Jennifer

Choose Love
I did not enjoy this book. This is because it did not have a lot of context and it was just very sad. I found it most upsetting when the main character lost their family but it was good when they found people to stay with. I would recommend this book to people who like a sad and depressing story line but you always hope made it through everything and did not die… This book was very short and had lots of pictures. This story would be good for people who wanted to get into reading but maybe find it hard to find a book that suits them. On the other hand, the way the author told the story and made you feel like you were there was on another level to most of the books that I read on a day to day basis most of the time.

Phoebe

Crossing the Line
This was a very gripping and dramatic book! I felt sorry for the boy as he had lost his dad from covid and then struggled in life as his mum met someone new and that someone left her with more children. This book really helps you connect with characters...

Jennifer

Away With Words
I liked the concept of the book. It was very interesting. I liked how the two main characters where from different places but where both sruggling with one thing

Esther

Choose Love
Very short but interesting. It was well illustrated. I liked the abstract art in the book

Esther

Steady for This
I really enjoyed this book because it was very different to anything else that I had read. I really enjoyed following Growls ln his rapping journey. I would recommend this book to anyone who would like something different to read and a book that you can't help but read all in one go. I particularly liked it when Shanks went and saw Growls win Raptology even though he couldn't do it himself. This book is highly enjoyable and I would recommend it to everyone.

Phoebe

Safiyyah's War
It was very interesting. It made me want to read more and more. I especailly like the grandma 😀

Esther

Steady for This
It was a good book very interesting and teaches good morals. I really liked it

The Song Walker
I loved the song walker because it had a really good storyline and the characters were really thought about and were developed beautifully. I couldn't put the book down! I loved the characters so much. They were great. I loved the plot twists as they were very clever and dramatic. Overall, I thought it was amazing!

Mia

The Song Walker
The Song Walker was a really good book as it had an amazing storyline and unpredictable plot twists. The characters were extremely detailed and I loved watching them grow. Overall, the Song Walker was an amazing book, perhaps my favourite and I shed a few tears towards the end.

Kaya

The Door of No Return
I did NOT enjoy this book. This is because it was written in a confusing way to read and understand. However, it was a very relatable book at times, but at others you could tell that it was made up. If I was to recommend this book to anyone, it would be to people who like poems and easy books to read. I would also recommend this book to people who like emotional twists and a book that seams so lifelike you feel you could be there with Kofi at several points in the book. I believe that The Door of No Return had too much information about the main character's family and his backing story. This book could have gotten to the point a bit quicker, and not have the chapters in between the verses while you were trying to work out what had happened in the bit before the start of the new chapter.

Phoebe

Choose Love
I didn't like chose love as it was very sad at the beginning and the sad stories where people die are very upsetting to me and this book made me cry. I thought it was some consulation when it had a nice ending but still, it was very depressing.

Mia

Choose Love
Choose Love was a very sensitive, sad book containing many short stories tackling traumatic situations. It was a very quick read, but it almost made me cry, and pretty much no books make me almost cry. In addition to this, after reading it I understood the combination of colours of the front cover as differing emotions trapped in the blue of the ocean.

Kaya

Away With Words
Away With Words is nothing like what I expected it to be like. It explores different feelings, personalities and conditions. This isn't the usual type of book I'm used to, but overall it was a nice book.

Kaya

Safiyyah's War
This book is one of my favourite carnegies! It relates back to the 2nd world war with a girl that bravely adventures into the unknown and dares to help those in need. The book had me in its grip and if you read it I am sure that you will love it!

Jennifer

The Song Walker
The Song Walker is beautifully written and is about a girl lost in the desert with no idea who she is. I love this book because it shows how we can become different people if we don't know who we are. It is amazingly described and emphasises the struggle of secrets and honesty between friends. My favourite part is when Tarni tells Sienna that she can go home now, but Sienna decides she will stay to help Tarni find her sister.

Rebecca

Safiyyah's War
This book was really reflective and good, one of the best books i have ever read. It touches on religion as saffiyah is muslim which is a religion i havent heard about before. (Ethnic sides). Also, the main plot of the book is the war that hits france. From that, it makes me feel really lucky and appreciate the life i have, living without worry. At somepoints it really touched my heart when she saw isabelle once again.saffiyah is brave and courageous which makes me look uo to her. Its good because she is about my age so its like you are experiencing the story and on the adventures aswell. I also have a baby brother like saffiyah so she is quite similiar to me. I really advise reading this book ❤️❤️❤️

Rosie

The Song Walker
I really enjoyed this book as it was very mysterious as you did not know who the young girl was. I liked it when Tarni told Sienna that she was a famous violin player. The only emotional part of this book was when Tarni let the parrot go to his own home. I liked it when Tarni and Sienna played a concert in the UK together after Sienna had seen her parents again. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and mystery with two young girls.

Phoebe

The Song Walker
The songwalker is a very mysterious book that features a girl lost in the desert with no idea who she is. She then meets a girl who helps her survive in the unknown outback. Its easy to lose yourself in the book and enjoy its mystery and many plot twists!

Jennifer

Away With Words
I really enjoyed Away with Words by Sophie Cameron as it shows how friendship could be anything, like how Gala struggled to speak English but still managed to communicate and build a connection with Natalie, a girl with selective mutism.

Tarja

Safiyyah's War
This book was very emotional and resulted in me not enjoying it. When Seti died, it was very sad and emotional. This book could have been better if the author did not go into as much detail about the war that happened at the same time. I would recommend this book to people who like books that are about war and in history.

Phoebe

The Song Walker
The song walker is a beautifully written book and very enjoyable. At times you feel like you are part of the story.

Ellie

Away With Words
Away with words is a beautiful and moving story about difference and acceptance. It has plot twists and inspiring characters which make it fun and enjoyable to read. I found it easy to empathise with the characters and it felt like I was in the story with them! My favourite part is when Natalie shows Gala how to preserve the words in paper because Sophie Cameron uses so much detail.

Rebecca

The Song Walker
The song walker is a very complex book filled with small plot twists near the end. It is about a girl who ends up in a desert kilometres away from urban areas. She wakes up only to realise that she's been rescued by a girl called Tarni who's around the same age. During the story the author makes you ask multiple questions about what the truth is yet in the end everything is too happy and feels like it is the end of a young child's book.

Chloe

Away With Words
Away with words is a very moving story about accepting and differences. It has many plot twists and inspiring characters that make it a beautiful book. It was easy to empathise with the characters that made you connect with the book so it felt like I was in the story!🙂

Jennifer

Away With Words
Away with words was a bit confusing at the beginning but once you get through the confusing bit it is an enjoyable read and written well. It is about accepting differences and how you don't always need to speak with words to be understood.

Ellie

The Song Walker
The Song Walker is a book i would not have read by choice however i found it very interesting and intriguing. I really enjoyed some moment like when Sienna finally found out about everything but it was very heart breaking at the end, especially when Tarni realises about her yaya.

Melissa

Away With Words
I really liked this book but it took a bit of time to get used to the whole words falling out your mouth thing i also think that the way they showed natalie with selective mustism was brilliant because it shows what is going on for her . This book really inspired me to do some scrapbooking. I really advise reading it ❤️

Emme

Away With Words
This book was unlike any other I have read! I really enjoyed the concept of words flowing from the page and found it very interesting to read. Having said that, I did find it a little bit hard to get into it but I advise keeping going- you'll miss out on a great book otherwise! I was inspired by the courage and determination shown by Gala and Natalie too! I really recommend!

Elouise

The Boy Lost in the Maze
I didnt really like this book because i thought it was a bit hard to understand what was going on. I also thought that the layout made it harder to focus on the story line. Overall i think that it was well written but it was not really my sort of story.

Ellie

Away With Words
This book was NOT for my liking. However it did provide a good discription of what the main character had gone through. I feel that his book could have been better if it did not 'drag on' as much and avoided all the description of some of the things that happened. E.g when she was in detention. This book would be good for someone who likes a book that describes what happenes and makes you feel like you are there with the characters in the story.

Phoebe

Away With Words
Its a great descriptive book which helps me understand what the main character is going through. Unfortunately this book was NOT for my liking as I found it kind of dragged on and could of got to the main point quicker.

Olivia

Steady for This
I sort of enjoyed this book but at times i thought it was a little slow. I also think that it was a little bit over descriptive but i did like the way it was well explained and nicely written

Ellie

Crossing the Line
I thought this was an interesting book with relatable characters. This book mached the descriptions we were told at primary school

Amelia

Crossing the Line
It was good and I liked how it was sometimes written so the words made different shapes. I also liked how it referenced actual laws (e.g county lines) .

Sophia

The Door of No Return
I personally thought that the beggining was too slow and lacked a storyline. The book gradually got better after he tripped into the wire snare but overall i thought it was a poorly written story that lacked a plot.

Amelia

Away With Words
It was good but it was a bit boring sometimes as nothing really happened for long stretches of the story.

Sophia

Steady for This
I thought that Steady For This was a decent book. However, i found the slang very annoying to cope with and i think that it ruined the book for me as it was EXTREMELY cringe. I would rate this book a solid 5/10

Ava

Away With Words
I enjoyed this book as was quite different, but still related to real life. I would recommend this book to Y7 & 8 as I think younger readers would enjoy this book more.

Rebecca

Steady for This
This book is soo good im so happy i read it because i loved it. It is quite easy to read and short and the characters are cool and have interesting back stories. My opinion is everyone can read this book and should, you wont regret it.

Grac

Crossing the Line
I thought the storyline was really good and I liked reading through and seeing Erik's character development and the impact his surroundings had on him.

Jess

Steady for This
I loved this book and would rate it 10/10 as it was very funny, and made me laugh. The book is short, and an easy read. The characters are all interesting and add to the plot. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Rebecca

Choose Love
I think that this book is quite good because the way that the poems are written is very well worded but I didn't really enjoy it that much because I don't really like the style. Although I did think that the illustrations where amazing and fitted perfectly with the writing. I didn't really think that it was my style of book because in the end I got a bit bored and I thought it wasn't that good so I would say that it is more of a book for people who really like poetry so they wouldn't get bored. On the whole I still thought it was a really well written book with brilliant illustrations.

Ellie

Choose Love
This book is a short read portraying the hardships faced by refugees and the struggles they go through. The abstract illustrations in the book are beautiful and full of meaning.

Juliette

Crossing the Line
This book was very well written, and, at first, the use of verses put me off, but a few pages in, and I no longer noticed. The layout of the verses is really cool, with the words forming shapes. I really got stuck into this book and really didn't want to put it down.

Juliette

Crossing the Line
I really enjoyed this book and I loved the way that it used different font, sizes, shapes and spaces within the pages to portray the story. I think that it's a very well written and entertaining story to read. I would definitely recommend this book to a range of ages and think that it would be an enjoyable read for many people. I loved this book and think that it is a brilliant story.

Ellie

The Song Walker
I enjoyed this book the plot was interesting and the quest to find her sister was thrilling. However, I didn't understand the whole " Tarni's sister is dead" thing

Amelia

Choose Love
I enjoyed this book as it was different to anything I'd read before. The rhymes worked really well and it was really emotional

Amelia

Away With Words
This is a good book, although hard to understand at points as words are missing. The book has very strong characters

Juliette

Away With Words
I personally didn't enjoy this book as i felt as though the plot was non existent. Also I found the idea of " collecting words" and putting on a show about it was stupid

Amelia

Away With Words
I didn't really enjoy this book because I found it quite boring and I thought that it didn't have a very interesting storyline. Although I did think that is was well written and I thought that some people would highly enjoy it.

Ellie

The Song Walker
I really enjoyed this book as it has a great representation of Australian outback culture. The book was full of excitement and puzzles. I would recommend it to readers of ages 9-14.

Juliette

The Song Walker
I think that this book was well written and interesting but i think that it was not really my sort of thing. I didnt really think it was an amazing story for me but it was very well written
