Steady for This
I really enjoyed Steady For This. It was brilliant to see the dialect and culture of many young people in London represented so positively, and it made me laugh out loud more than once. An excellent read.

Safiyyah's War
Safiyyah's War manages to create a thought-provoking experience while still captivating a wide range of readers. This book combines history and geography (the writer's favourite passion), making the ending fulfilling but still allowing the reader to ponder what comes next. The writer has made the reader connect with the book, making it an amazing read for all.

The Door of No Return
This book shows us the reality of how horrible the world was and how and still can be. We follow the story of a 11 year old boy being torn from his life and see his grief for what has been lost. It captures the history behind it drawing you into the book itself.

The Song Walker
This an excellent story about two girls, one searching for a missing sister and another finding herself and her legacy again. Their bond grows throughout the story, facing the problems and the lies. The plot twists are immaculate and can't be seen coming. This is an amazing adventure book with emotions built inside it.

The Boy Lost in the Maze
An excellent and easy read; as a verse novel it has a format different to any book that I have read before. The story is about two boys searching for their fathers, one a myth, one a real boy. I really felt the emotions coming from the boys and what it’s like to have a missing parental figure in their life. As a young person it hit home the possibilities of life and how the options you choose matter. I personally don’t know a lot about Greek mythology but if you knew more about it then the book will be even better. Overall it’s a brilliant book.

The Door of No Return
The poem-like format enhances reading for younger readers while still not losing its adult concepts. The ending is simple but still takes the reader by surprise and promotes contemplating after reading the book, allowing the reader to contemplate the ideas shown in the book. A truly great book for young readers whilst conveying adult concepts and information on foreign cultures, Kwame Alexander really shows his passions in this book and is brilliant because of it, amazing.
